Outreach and Church Growth
Eric Metaxas is a Christian speaker, author and contributor to the Christian Post. His biography on Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy won the 2010 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association 2010 Book of the Year (along with other awards). His 2007 biography of British abolitionist William Wilberforce, Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, was very well received and no doubt would be helpful in the current U.S. debate about racism. He recently wrote a piece for the Christian Post that would be good for Christians of all stripes to read. The title lays out the theme of the article: Your Unchurched Neighbors Are Not Unreachable.
Theology
Here’s a short posting by one of my favorite authors, R.C. Sproul. He seeks to answer a question that many of us have asked at some point: Can the Devil Read My Mind?
The I, T-P & A
Although most of grew up singing Yankee Doodle went to town…, do we know that the macaroni we also sang about was more cheesy than it was a companion to cheese. Here’s what I mean: The Macaroni in ‘Yankee Doodle’ is Not What You Think.
Living the Christian Life
A year ago Tim Challies had a interesting blog where he touched on the fact that more and more Protestants seem to be wearing a crucifix. He shares his thoughts on this phenomenon by quoting theologian J.I. Packer. It’s not too hard to figure out his position: Why You Should Not Wear a Crucifix.
Church History
Union University Professor George Guthrie shares 4 Interesting Facts about the Production of the King James Translation.
Let me start by saying Thank You! I have been searching for a reliable source of solid Christian theology answering the everyday questions that we all have on our minds. In the few days you have been blogging, you have stretched me, challenged me, and made me feel like I want more. Bonhoeffer, Wilberforce, Unchurched Neighbors, WOW! So thought provoking, so meaningful in my church life and everyday life. However, the most profound topic to me is the one about ‘Can Satan Read My Mind?.’ So if I understand correctly, if Satan can’t read our minds, then it seems even less likely that he can invade our minds or plant thoughts in our minds (temptation). Can you go a bit further and address this aspect?
I am really liking your blog. I have added it to my daily devotions to do just what you ask…Stop and Consider. God Bless
